Fest Up
It’s another blessed and beautiful day here in the city of Dreams. Festival season is upon us and guests from around the globe are piling in for their hearts and solo cups to be filled, and perhaps overfloweth!
This is my favorite time of year. We’ve done all of our work, we’ve made the new record, played a hundred shows, rehearsed our very festival-focused 7 piece band set (I know you guys want to hear GUITAR SOLO’s after your 5th beer of the day, and guitar solos you shall hear!), now it’s time to enjoy the ride and do what the universe put us here to do. Create and dig in.
Tonight, Friday April 27th, we’ll be opening up for Lafayette all-star group, Lil Band of Gold at The House of Blues. They’re awesome and I’m pretty excited to get paid to be a part of and attend this show. Word on the street is some very special guests will be sitting in. You probably want to be here tonight…. that’s all I can say.
Tomorrow, Sat. April 28th we will take our 7 piece incarnation of “Kristin Diable & The City” for it’s maiden voyage into the holy fairgrounds in the land known as The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. We’re on from 4:40-5:40 on the Lagniappe Stage.
Sunday, April 29th, we’ll play at Melange/Speakeasy Bar off Frenchmen Street at 8pm.
Monday, April 30th, we’ll be playing a fun little patio house concert at Andrew Duhon & Charles Lumar’s place in MidCity kicking off around 6pm. Taco Truck & NOLA Brewery will be around along with these great artists: Andrew Duhon, Maggie Koerner, Micha McKee, Julia Haltigan, Adam Capagna and I’m sure others. Tip jar pass. It’ll be behind the house on Pierce at Palmyra St. Follow the music.
Tuesday, May 1st, I might just take the night off. Who knows!
Wednesday May 2nd, I’ll be solo in the garden room at House of Blues trading sets with one of my favorite blues-men, Colin Lake from 7-9pm.
Thursday, May 3rd, we’re jetting up to Ocean Springs, Mississippi to play the Georgia O’Keefe Center with Julia Haltigan. Then red eyeing it back to New Orleans to hop an early morning flight to….
Friday May 4th-6th - Key West, Florida for the BMI Key West Songwriters Festival. Will play a few sets throughout the weekend, so check the calendars. Get those fresh squeezed key lime margarita’s ready for me boys. Then, first thing Monday morning I’ll be hopping a flight back to this city of Dreams…
Monday, May 7th - Back in NOLA to play Three Muses (536 Frenchmen St) for the New Orleans Speakeasy Songwriters Revue. 7-10pm.
Wednesday, May 9th, is my birthday. I’m off! Now, what to do with this free time?!?
Sometime during all these days I’m really hoping to do the following:
-Meet Bruce Springsteen, give him a kiss on the cheek and become his understudy.
-Find a crawfish boil and eat until food coma status is reached (perhaps with THE BOSS)
-Enjoy a small handful of magic mushrooms in the company of the folks I love most and sit with the Mississippi River as she whispers eternal secrets to all who listen
-ROCK the faces off the Jazz Fest Lagniappe stage with this big, bad band we’ve been brewing.
See you in the sunshine.
